Research demonstrates that virtually all young children have the capability to learn and become competent in mathematics. One could start by drawing a diagram, or by counting the number of rounds, or by considering a series that includes the number of matches played each round. This edition of the book should find a new generation of general readers and students who would like to know what mathematics is all about. Mathematics can run in the background, but the time and attention of active monitoring is required.
